Yosemite National Park - A Weekend Getaway

It’s been about two weeks since I visited one of the most breath taking national parks in a while. Ever since Pinnacles, I wanted to explore more national parks since they give such a great opportunity to hike and see what nature has to offer within a close distance.

This will be a short article in particular. I did not take too many pictures personally on this trip. Mainly because I was also helping out with an engagement shoot and I wanted to make this trip more on just relaxing / spending time with friends and enjoying the overall ambiance. This short trip was able 3 days long. (Went on Friday, May 13th and returned on Sunday, May 15th). The cost of the Airbnb was a reasonable $550 total.

Days & Nights at the Airbnb

On Friday, my friend and I were meeting up with two of our other friends over at the Airbnb. By the time we arrived, we were fascinated by how the Airbnb looked.

Starting off with the nice and cute logo “Sweet Retreat” was the thing that attracted me the most when I was selecting an Airbnb. As weak as I am into cute things, the logo sold me for sure along with the cute interior design of the Airbnb. The place felt like a cabin mainly because of the minimalistic features and wood build structure on the interior near the fireplace on the inside. The spiral staircases to the upstairs was pretty cool as well.

There was a night that we accidentally locked one of the rooms but the host was nice enough to give useful suggestions to open up the room again with a secret key hidden around.

Overall, it was a really cute and fun spot. Although it was about an hour of a drive to Yosemite still, it was well worth it staying here. The trees and the ambiance of the place is the part that made me really want to stay here and come back another time. If anyone wants to stay here, here is the link!

  • First Photo: Had a nice campfire moment, pretty easy to setup a campfire and extinguish

  • Second Photo: A nice “CHEERS” frame that I wanted to get a shot of

  • Third Photo: From upstairs looking down at the indoor fireplace. The wood and the nice glass added a nice cabin feel to the environment

  • Fourth Photo: A group shot outside of the Airbnb with the nice Sweet Retreat Photo.

Exploring Yosemite National Park

First time arriving to Yosemite, this place was gorgeous.

We arrived around 10AM on a Saturday and to be honest, this was a mistake arriving so late. Forgetting that this was a pretty popular national park and people generally arrive early to explore was something that we totally overlooked. Even with that in mind, we were still able to spend a good amount of time here doing photoshoots and checking out giant rocks.

One of the most important destinations that we wanted to check out was the iconic valley. The valley had the waterfalls which made it perfect for any sort of landscape photos and engagement shots on the meadows. The valley included the lower Yosemite Falls and the upper Yosemite Falls (pictured below). We also drove around El Cap and the famous Tunnel View as well to kill time before the day ended. Originally we planned for Vernal Falls Hike but it ended up not happening.

Despite the setbacks, it was a fun day adventure to spend with friends. Would come back again with a better agenda and plan.

  • Fourth Photo: El Capitan (took this photo on accident not knowing that this was THE EL CAP)
